BAMBI

Bambi was found outside our shelter as a "drop off" overnight about 15 months ago as a very young pup. Her Left front leg was so mangled that it could not be saved. We have a wonderful, supportive group called The Friends of the Humane Society which chose to sponsor all her surgeries and care as there was just something so special about this pup whose determination was incredible. She has been raised and Fostered at June's house, one of the Friends members. June loves Bambi and has cared for her every need, but she realized that Bambi needs a family that can ultimately give her more. June's personal health limits her to what she can provide for such a young dog with a lot of healthy energy!  Bambi is wonderful with dogs and cats and children. In fact she would love to have a bunch of kids to play with on a daily basis. Nothing slows her down and she is such a happy dog! Exercise is a must and play time is a necessity. She is spayed, current on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and housetrained. 16 months old. Contact the shelter with other question about Bambi. Fortunately, Bambi's adoption fee has been fully sponsored. Therefore, no money will be needed with her adoption, although donations are accepted and appreciated if possible. She really deserves a home that can care for her just the way she is and that means more than money.

(AND NOW FOR THE WARM AND FUZZY END TO THE STORY!)

A wonderful family adopted her last Saturday. They have 4 kids, 2 of which have disabilities and are from the Lawton area. This morning I received the picture and email from Mrs. Gordon. This was a huge group effort to get her a home. The "Friends" foot the bill for her injuries as a pup, June fostered her for about 10 months, Numerous others had time, love and care wrapped up in this dog, A wonderful family at Bark in the Park sponsored her and finally her Adoptive family found her (they also gave a monetary donation even though they didn't have too). Nice work everyone! Take a moment to enjoy a good success story!  To read more about this story, go to:

Hey all!

Just thought I would drop a line and let you know Bambi is doing well.  We call her Roxy now, and she's so clever that she already knows its her name.  She and my other dog Nikita (rat terrier mix) are getting along fine.  They love to chase eachother around the yard.  Roxy is somewhat obsessed with our cat Sasha who's not quite ready to come out of hiding, but that will work itself out in time!  Roxy is every bit as patient with the boys (both 3!) As I expected.  She is very loved and I am very grateful to have her in our family!!!

Thank you SCHS!!

JAX

I just wanted to send a few pictures and let you know that Jax (formerly known as Hank) is doing great! He is the sweetest dog. He loves giving kisses, not only to people, but to his new sister Tink. She humors him and lets him lick her on the nose. In return, he lets her chew on his ears.

I couldn't have imagined a better dog as a playmate for her. They love to chase each other in the back yard and play tug with the toys. We've already had many stuffed animals dismembered by their antics.

Jax is so good natured and easy going that he settled in very quickly. As you can see from the pictures, he has already made himself at home. He and Tink have taken over my favorite chair and our bed, even though there are 6 doggie beds scattered throughout the house for them to lay on.

I'm trying to get more pictures. The only problem - he doesn't like to stand still. Also, once the weather warms up, and the snow melts, I'll send some pictures of him playing in the yard.

Thank you and your staff for giving him such good care and love in the four months that you had him. Your efforts made it easy for him to go to a new home. We already love him, and think he'll be happy in his forever home here in Colorado.

WE LOVE BAILEY!!

Thank you so much for saving Bailey from Animal Control, we are so happy she is part of our family!  Bailey is the sweetest dog; her favorite thing is snuggin’ on the couch. It took her about a week to settle in and get comfortable and start playing, but now she is crazy for toys. Bailey has also turned into a squirrel hunting dog and she has been known to be a cat chaser on occasion. She gets along great with her siblings, even the cats. We couldn’t have asked for a better addition to the family!

DOG GOES TO TENNESSEE

Abby, a 1 yr old Standard Poodle goes home to Clinton, Tennesse! First, she was going to fly but she was too tall for her carrier, then a wonderful group called Royal Pet Delivery out of Atlanta, Georgia just happened to be returning from the midwest and picked her up and delivered her to her new home in Tennesee. The new owner called us as soon as Abby arrived, very pleased with her new family addition.

PUDDLES GOES TO ANAHEIM

Countrytime (Puddles), a 4 month old Coon Hound goes home to Anaheim California! The Rodriguez's found her on our Petfinder website and fell in love immediately. They spent the weekend traveling by car to our shelter where they were greeted by our shelter employees and Puddles herself. They made a perfect match! On the side..We happened to change her name to Puddles after we got to know her peronality here at the shelter. When asking the Rodriguez's about their previous animals is was quite the coincidence when we found out their last dog's name was in fact, "Puddles". Some things are just meant to be.

                                                      SARAH GOES EAST!
Another dog travels East! Sarah, a German Shepherd/Airdale mix flies to Pembroke, New Hampshire. The Arika's found Sarah on the Petfinder site and contacted us in regards to adopting and helping transport her. We were able to get her to OKCity Airport where she relaxed in her travel kennel until take off. She arrived safely in New Hampshire that afternoon and after talking with the Arika's they were very pleased with the arrival of their new family member. After checking in a few weeks later, the Arika's report that they couldn't have asked for a better dog, she gets along great with the family and is very much enjoying her New England lifestyle!

HAPPY KITTENS,  ADOPTED BY MATT AND CHRISTY HARRIS

My husband and I adopted 2 kittens from your shelter yesterday 9/4/09, and I just wanted to say that they are the 2 most precious kitties!! I just had to have my 16 year-old best friend euthanized in August and these two will be a great addition to my fur family!!

MOLLY FINDS LOVE!!

Adopted a pup from you guys a couple years ago.  Little blank and white border collie mix that you guys had named Skye.

Her name is Molly now and has turned out to be a wonderful dog.  When we first got her we had some trouble with her chewing up a couple pair of sandles, but she gave up on that very quickly and has never been a problem since.  We were able to leave her unattended way sooner than the other dog we had at the time because she just never did anything she wasn't supposed to.  She loves playing with her fuzzy toys and slinging them around like she's trying to kill them.  She's very loving and is content to just be close to us.

Anyways, thought you guys might like a couple pics of her for your success stories.

This one was taken not long after we got her ...  We thought it was really funny.  We caught her outside playing in the mud/water.  The look she's giving just screams, "I'm not bad."  hehe

This one was taken a couple weeks ago.  This is her in her favorite spot, right in front of the couch so she can lick our feet and get loved while we watch TV.
