Mission Statement: The Friends of The Humane Society are made up of a group of volunteers that are dedicated to raising funds to support projects and aid in veterinary care at the Stephens County Humane Society Additionally, we work diligently to encourage pet owners to spay or neuter their pets.
SPAY/NEUTER DISCOUNT CERTIFICAE PROGRAM : The Coupon Program to assist citizens with spay/neuter expense was introduced one year ago. To date, the Friends havve provided over $7,000.00 in certificates to citizens of Stephens County. Any pet owner may go to the Humane Society Office and request a $25.00 certificate. This certificate is presented to the owner's veternerian of choice and will receive that deduction from their statement.
FUND RAISING PROJECTS: BIG BIG Rummage Sale coming up June 4 and 5 at the Stephens County Fairgrounds in the Winchester Room. Starting time: Friday: 8 until 4 >> Saturday: 8 until ?
Set-up day is June 3 starting at 8 and donations can be dropped there if needed. We accept donations year round and arrangements may be made by calling Betty Burk 580-475-0223, Diane Lehman 580-470-8049 or Reva Shaddock 580-255-8610.
BARK N' THE PARK, OCTOBER 24, 2009 WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!! We want to thank all the volunteers and the community for their wonderful support and their generosity for all the bake goods. Thank you Jodie at S & J amusments for donating the moon walk!! It really made a huge hit with the children.We appreciate you so much. We reached our goal of $20,000. AND 50 animals were adopted by caring people..WOW!! The money raised will go toward operational expenses of the Humane Society and to make improvements for the animal shelter. Adoptions can take place at the Humane Shelter year round, Monday thru Saturday.
Donations may also be dropped off at the Humane Society at 714 Martin Luther King Blvd, Duncan. Shaundra collinsworth,DVM of Comanche Ok, has donated warehouse space for storage.
Also, arrangements can be picked up if needed.

ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES BOOTHS: With many thanks to Mr. Al Ely, owner of The Antique Mall of Duncan and The Antique Marketplace, this project is made possible. Mr. Ely donates a booth space in each mall and all funds raised from sales are used to fund Shelter projects. We have been so very fortunate to have interesting and lovely items donated to supply these booths Donations are accepted year round for this project. Please call Betty Burk at 580-475-0223 to donate items. We invite each of you to visit these booths and as you plan your holiday shopping please remember to make your shopping dollars create blessings for the animals at the shelter.
CHRISTMAS OPEN HOUSE(Don't Miss us next year): Held at the Humane Society, you are invited to come and visit the animals at the shelter. Perhaps you will find a loving pet to make your holidays all the more special. Great gift items for sale. On site Photographer is ready to take Pictures of your pet with Santa Clause. VOLUNTEERS: We are actively seeking volunteers that would like to work with us in helping the shelter. Along with the above projects we also do on site adoptions and other functions thru out the year.
